Centering Prayer is a fairly recent name of an ancient practice of Christian prayer which was revitalized some 30 or 40 years ago. It is both method and prayer. Those who practice the method sit quietly for a specified time (20 minutes twice a day is recommended) expecting nothing, releasing any thoughts which come, being totally present to the Spirit’s action within.
At Holy Family those of us who wish to engage with others in this special prayer meet together each Tuesday morning at 10:15 in the Chapel. Our goal is to support each other in our prayer life and in our faith journey as we consent and surrender to God. We welcome any who want to join us to pray, to ask questions, to add a dimension of quiet and receptiveness to their lives.
But whenever you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your father who is in secret.. Matthew 6:6
